Maiden Voyage

A lovely friend encouraged me to start a blog, so here it goes.  I am...well...so many things.  A wife, a mother of two, a daughter, a sister...you know the usual.  But on May 21, 2010 I decided to become as vegan as possible(Please forgive me diciplined vegans!  I love you all and look to you for guidence, but I was born and raise on meat so I desperately need a learning curve).  You see, along with being a wife, a mother...etc. I am also a type II diabetic with high blood pressure and some serious family tree health issues.  So, along with all my other daily endeavors I try to work on being more healthy and active.

Ok, so another part of complicated me is that I love public television(pbs.org) and public radio(npr.org).  As fate would have it, I was looking for one of my favorite shows and instead there was Dr. Neal Barnard talking about reversing diabetes with a vegan diet.  At first glance I said, "Yeah right.  What is life without meat?" and then switched to the Food Network(Oh how I love all things food!).

Fast forward to May 20th when my afore mentioned lovely friend told me that my erratic mood swings could be a result of poor blood sugar management.  I began to think about how often I felt stressed out and angry.  Let alone the times I let loose on my poor husband and children.  So I decided to revisit Dr. Barnard's vegan diet, and I have decided to let you lovely people read about the insuing madness.  "It's gonna be a bumpy ride!"

Later Lovies!
